Treatments

When a limb needs to be lengthened or an orthopedic problem has to be corrected, there are several non-surgical and surgical treatments available. The course of action can depend on many factors; for example, the severity of the issue, the patient’s age, the medical judgment and the history of medical treatments that have already taken place.

Your physician or orthopedic surgeon will evaluate what is appropriate for your case based on your medical history,
a physical examination, imaging and blood or nerve tests. A specialist will be best equipped to evaluate and diagnose conditions that may require internal or external fixation. For a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon, our Surgeon Finder tool may be useful. Before you visit your doctor or surgeon, make a list of questions – our FAQs might provide a good starting point for discussion.
