The Agile Nail™ is a rigid implant made of titanium alloy, designed for femoral fracture treatment and deformity correction procedures. It is inserted in the intramedullary canal of the bone from the tip or slightly lateral to the tip of the greater trochanter and fixed to the bone with locking screws. The implants are available in several sizes to fit the bone anatomy of the patient.
The Agile Nail is anatomically designed, with a specific bent shape on the tip that allows an easy insertion. It’s minimally invasive thanks to the small diameter of the nails and the screws. The surgeon can decide for an early weight-bearing as tolerated by the patient. It is used to acutely treat fractures or deformities in femur in adolescent patients, so there is no need for the patient to adjust the system postoperatively. The Agile Nail is a valid alternative to external fixation of the femur, which can be very annoying for young patients.
The Agile Nail is used to correct bone deformities caused by a wide variety of pathologies and conditions in children. Listed below are some of the bone deformities that Agile Nail may be particularly useful for managing.
